Take a Class To Learn to Basic First Aid + How To Perform CPR

learn how to perform CPR in case someone is injured

We never know when a freak accident or some other situation will occur, that requires CPR or other life saving assistance. Life is like that.

You want to help and you have a ton of gear, ready for you to use. Well, you can have all  the gear in the world, if you don’t know how to use it or don't need it, at that moment, it's worthless.

Some injuries require CPR and if you don't know how to apply it, you can't help. Some injuries require First Aid knowledge and if you don't know proper procedures, you may cause more harm to the person.

CPR and First Aid knowledge are essential to your survival in a dangerous or life-threatening situation.

In a city-wide crisis, emergency services may not be available or it may take hours for them to reach you that could possibly put you in the position of being the only one who can help.

When someone collapses, falls into the water, gets a deep gash or goes into shock it would be terrible if all you did not know what to do to help.

If you need to help yourself and your family during a medical emergency, you have to learn how to;

  • 📌 control bleeding
  • 📌 splint a fracture
  • 📌 treat burns
  • 📌 manage shock
  • 📌 perform hands-only CPR
  • 📌 give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation

Take a First Aid Class

Most communities offer Red Cross, local first responder training, CPR or basic First Aid classes or courses. If you can't take in person classes, there are online courses and classes with videos, guides and printable instruction manuals.

Practice on a regular basis so that you remember exactly what to do in a real-time crisis.

Be sure to include your family members in your training. If everyone is trained, there is plenty of hands to assist in an emergency.

In wilderness or long-term survival, even a small wound can become life-threatening - if it is not treated quickly and correctly.

Understanding and knowing what to do in a medical emergency is not only helpful for the injured person, it is psychologically helpful to you too. When you know what to do and how to do it, you can remain calm under pressure knowing that your knowledge can help to save a life.

You don’t have to be a licensed paramedic but, you do need to be prepared.

Learn the basics of how to assist if someone is injured, or if someone is having a heart attack or other medical emergency.  Keep a manual in your kit and read it and practice your skill.

When seconds count and you are the only person around, your training becomes your most valuable asset, for yourself and the other party.
